Anti-Wrinkle Injections
Anti-Wrinkle Injections works by using a natural purified protein that relaxes specific facial muscles that cause expression lines, creating an improved appearance.
Once the muscles are relaxed, you cannot contract them and continue to make undesirable facial expressions. Thus, the lines gradually smooth and new lines are prevented from forming.
The most commonly treated areas are the frown lines, forehead lines and crows feet. Anti-Wrinkle Injections can also be used to create an eyebrow lift, stop the mouth from pulling down, and to reduce neck bands.
A small amount of anti-wrinkle medication is injected into selected facial muscles using a very fine needle. Generally treatment takes around 10-15 minutes. Discomfort is typically minimal and brief, and no anaesthetic is usually required. The injection may sting for a few seconds but normal activities can be resumed soon after. After the injections, it takes 2-3 days for the effects to begin and about 7-10 days to see the full effect.
The dose recommended will vary depending on your individual situation and the severity of your frown lines. The effect can last up to 4 months before lines slowly begin to return. If you have repeated treatments, the effect tends to last longer.
In the amounts used for facial treatments the side effects are usually temporary and localized to the area of injection. Possible side effects include headaches, local muscle weakness including drooping eyelids, lack of feeling, skin tightness and nausea.
Anti-Wrinkle Injections is also used to treat axillary hyperhidrosis or excessive underarm sweating. It works by reducing the activity of the sweat glands by stopping the nerve transmission to the glands. It tends to last for 7 months approximately. Sweating gradually returns after this time.
Dermal Fillers
The most popular dermal filler used is a crystal-clear gel form of hyaluronic acid, a substance that occurs naturally in the body. The dermal filler holds water, hydrating and giving volume to the skin. It creates volume for the treatment of lips, lines, wrinkles and facial folds. It's results are immediate and treatment takes approximately 30 minutes. As we get older the production of our natural hyaluronic acid diminishes. A single injection of dermal filler replenishes the lost volume and improves your look by enhancing your profile.
Dermal fillers are most commonly used to enhance, define or enlarge lips, and to fill the nasolabial folds, the fold from the nose to the corner of the mouth. Dermal fillers lasts up to one year, depending on the area being treated, the depth of the lines, the condition of the skin and the lifestyle of the individual. Most people return at 6-9 months for a top up.
Dermal filler treatment involves injection into the skin, you therefore may experience some discomfort, however local anaesthetic can be used to minimize pain. The side effects of treatment may include swelling, redness and occasional bruising. Other side effects may include minor lumps, itching or tenderness, which usually pass quickly.
